I only discovered the work of Jackson Burnside a few months ago. I was working with a class of Year 3 children who were studying The Windrush and did an online search of artists of the Caribbean for us to look at.
Jackson Burnside is famous in his home country of The Bahamas and for good reason. As well as being an architect and designer, he created beautiful, vibrant paintings of Bahamian towns, cities, buildings and people.
The children were extremely excited to see his colourful art and created their own oil pastel drawings of local south London landmarks in response.
