Year 2’s planets were created using oil pastels. They spent time studying the surfaces of different planets before focusing on their chosen one. They went on to design and create rocket ships using junk modelling.
My Year 5 class have been learning all about the Solar System in science lessons. During one art lesson they focused on the study of the colours, textures and patterns that make each individual planet so unique.
The children painted their chosen planet in base colours onto mini-canvases. They then used thin pieces of rectangular card to apply more detailed textures and patterns; their version of the impasto technique, so popular with Van Gogh.
